Tips For Women on Being Prepared in your Vehicle

Most people know that the motto of the Boy Scouts of America is “Always Be Prepared.” But, this motto also applies to women drivers—especially women with kids. Being organized and having certain items stocked in your vehicle at all times can save women time, energy, and money. And, it can keep the kids from having meltdowns, which is, perhaps, the best benefit of all.

It isn’t difficult to keep a vehicle organized and well-stocked. There are a few steps a woman needs to take in order to equip the vehicle with gear that is necessary for her and her kids, though—although there are some general items that pertain to any family, choosing some items depend upon the individual family.

First of all, the woman needs to think about the age of her kids. This is because babies have very different needs than preteens, for example. Now, if the woman has a baby (or babies), it is quite helpful to keep a stocked diaper bag in the vehicle at all times. Fill a diaper bag with diapers, wipes, burp cloths, a couple of changes of clothing, and a few small toys. If this is always present in the car, there will be no worries about forgetting the diaper bag (if, that is, the mother is breast-feeding; if she is bottle feeding, she will need to add some canned liquid formula and a bottle to the diaper bag).

If, however, the woman’s kids are older, no diaper bag is needed. Instead, a duffel bag should be packed according to the kids’ needs. Changes of clothing are still a good idea (just in case), as are extra socks. Non-perishable snack foods and bottled water can definitely come in handy as well. It is also nice to pack a few entertainment items, such as pads of paper and colored pencils and crossword puzzles. By having this bag in the vehicle the woman will prepared if the kids get hungry or bored.

Other than the kids, the woman needs to consider her own needs. So, it is essential to keep some items stocked in the car that will make life easier for the woman herself.

To figure out what these items should be, the woman should mentally walk through her daily schedule and think about each item she uses and whether or not it would come in handy to have that type of item with her in her car. She may decide that it would be a good idea to keep tampons, concealer, face powder, mascara, and cologne in the vehicle, for instance. She may also want to stock a few snacks and bottles of water for herself. If she does a lot of working in her car, she may want to have good writing instruments, paper, notepads, and paper clips in the vehicle.

Keeping things handy in the vehicle can keep a woman from wasting a lot of time carrying things back and forth from the house and office to the car. This idea can work for any woman. For more tips, check out www.goontheroad.com.
